essential worker vaccination eligibility

As of March 22, 2021 "essential workers" - food and store employees - are eligible to book COVID 19 vaccination appointments.

Newton Neighbors Helping Neighbors has compiled information on these appointments from Commonwealth of Massachusetts government websites and translated the materials.

Am I eligible to get Vaccinated?

Starting March 22, 2021, the following people will be able to get vaccinated. 

  • Cooks, servers, maintenance staff, managers, cashiers

  • All staff involved in the production, processing, storage, transport, wholesale and retail sale, preparation, and service of food and consumer goods, including farm and other agricultural workers, including farm stand and nurseries

  • Cashiers, baggers, stockers, managers, maintenance staff, security staff

How can I sign up to get vaccinated? 
  • You can pre-register for a vaccination at

    • If you pre-register at this site, you will be able to get your vaccine at one of the 7 state vaccination sites in Massachusetts (Hynes Convention Center, Danvers, Dartmouth, Foxborough, Natick, Reggie Lewis Center, Springfield)

    • They will contact you with weekly updates 

    • If you need help with pre-registration call 2-1-1 or (877) 211-6277 for help

  • You can also get vaccinated at pharmacies, clinics, and medical centers, although appointments are limited. You can find out more information and try to sign up for an appointment at these sites at the following websites: 

  • If you would like help making an appointment sign up for help from volunteers at 

    • MA COVID Vaccination Help's callback line for booking help has launched: 1 (888) 4321 VAX // 1 (888) 432 1829. There are volunteers that support English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?
  • The vaccine is free-- you will not need an ID, Social Security number, or insurance card in order to be eligible. 

  • If you have an insurance card, bring it to the appointment.
